Understanding Nurtured Contacts
A Nurtured Contact is any contact in RealScout who had at least one nurture tool applied — most commonly a Listing Alert, Home Value Alert, Market Activity Alert, Data Enrichment, Scout Score, or a contact who has engaged with your site by logging into their profile.
Counts as Nurtured
These contacts count toward your account limit
Auto Nurture: We automatically choose and send the best alerts for each contact. You turn it on, we handle the rest.
Manual Nurture Setup: You pick which alerts or features each contact gets (Listings, Home Values, Market Updates, Contact Enrichment, Scout Score). We provide you with those features and send alerts to your contacts automatically.
Capture Leads: Anyone who signs up through your RealScout links or lead capture pages. They’re using RealScout services, so they count, even if you haven’t set up ongoing alerts for them yet.Â
Doesn’t Count
These contacts don’t count toward your account limit
Archived Contacts: You’ve paused their alerts. They stay in your database but aren’t getting anything from us.
Awaiting Nurture: Contacts saved in your account but not yet connected to any alerts, campaigns, or forms. They’re waiting for you to activate nurture.
Overage Contacts: Contacts added after reaching your Nurtured Contact limit. They appear in the Overages tab and don’t receive automated alerts until space is freed or NCPs are added.
Managing Nurtured Contact Capacity
Purchase Contact Packs
When you exceed your account’s contact limit, NCPs let you continue nurturing additional contacts. Each pack adds capacity for 500 more nurtured contacts at $9.99/month—just $0.02 per contact.
Archive Contacts
Focus your nurturing budget on your most engaged prospects by archiving less active contacts.
Archiving Nurtured Contacts
If you prefer to stay within your contact limit, you can archive contacts who haven’t engaged recently. Archived contacts remain in your database permanently but stop receiving all alerts and campaigns.
How to Archive a Contact:
1
Go to Contacts
Navigate to your RealScout dashboard and click “Contacts” in the main menu.
2
Go to Nurtured Contacts
Navigate to the tab that says “Nurtured” to see all your Nurtured Contacts.
3
Select the Contact
Click the checkbox for the nurtured contacts you’d like to archive.
4
Archive
Click “More Actions“, which is on the top right corner and then select “Archive” to move those contacts to Archived.
Pro Tip: We recommend archiving contacts who haven’t opened an email or clicked an alert in 90+ days. Focus your active nurturing budget on your most engaged prospects.
Got questions? We’ve got answers.
Why do manually configured contacts count as nurtured contacts?
Whether you use Auto Nurture or manually configure alerts, RealScout works continuously on your behalf to help you stay in touch, follow up consistently, and convert more of your database into deals. We do this by enriching contact data, providing you with engagement scores, and sending listing alerts, market updates, home value reports, and your branded content to keep contacts engaged.
The setup method doesn't change the value delivered. Both approaches count as "nurtured" because RealScout is actively working to move these contacts through your pipeline toward conversion.
What’s the benefit of adding NCPs instead of archiving?
Adding NCPs lets you keep everyone engaged — so you never have to pause your pipeline.
Archiving stops RealScout from nurturing that contact.
How do I add an NCP to my account?
Click here, select the number of additional nurtured contacts you want, and purchase the additional contacts in the form of NCPs.
Do NCPs renew automatically each month?
Yes. NCPs renew monthly once added, and you can adjust or cancel them anytime in your Billing Settings.
How do I confirm how many Nurtured Contacts are included in my plan?
You can see your current usage and limit on your account by going to “Contacts” and referring to the total in the Nurtured Contacts Usage box. This total will include your account limit plus any additional contacts you might have purchased through NCPs.
How can I tell which of my contacts are currently nurtured?
Go to your Contacts in your dashboard and click on your “Nurtured” tab. You’ll see all your Nurtured Contacts there, including everyone who has alerts, Auto Nurture, or recent activity on your RealScout pages.
What is the Overage tab?
Overages is a new tab within your Contacts list to help with contact management. When your account exceeds its Nurtured Contact limit, you can still manually add new contacts, and leads can continue to sign up on their own. These contacts will now appear in a dedicated Overages tab on your Contacts page. This ensures your core workflows stay uninterrupted while giving you full visibility and control over how to manage and prioritize your contact list.
How do I add or remove NCPs from my account?
Go to Billing Settings → Add Nurtured Contact Packs.
You’ll only be billed when you choose to add packs, and you can remove them anytime.
What’s the difference between archiving and deleting a contact?
Archiving pauses RealScout’s engagement but keeps the contact in your database.
Deleting permanently removes them from your account.
How do I archive a Nurtured Contact?
Archived contacts remain in your database permanently but stop receiving all alerts and campaigns. To archive, follow the following steps:
- Go to Contacts
Navigate to your RealScout dashboard and click “Contacts” in the main menu. - Go to Nurtured Contacts
Navigate to the tab that says “Nurtured” to see all your Nurtured Contacts. - Select the Contact
Click the checkbox for the nurtured contacts you’d like to archive. - Archive
Click “More Actions,” which is on the top right corner and then select “Archive” to move those contacts to Archived.
Pro Tip: We recommend archiving contacts who haven’t opened an email or clicked an alert in 90+ days. Focus your active nurturing budget on your most engaged prospects.
If I archive someone, can I unarchive them later?
Yes. You can unarchive any contact at any time to restart their alerts and engagement.
Do my Nurtured Contacts reset each month?
No. Your Nurtured Contact total is ongoing — not monthly.
Once a contact is nurtured, they count toward your limit until you archive or remove them.
Where can I see how close I am to my Nurtured Contact limit?
You can see your current usage and limit on your dashboard by going to “Contacts” and referring to the total in the Nurtured Contacts Usage box. This total will include your account limit plus any additional contacts you might have purchased through NCPs.
What happens when an account exceeds the Nurtured Contact Limit? Will RealScout stop sending alerts if I go over my limit?
If a contact is added by you (or if a contact signs up on their own) after reaching your account's Nurtured Contact limit, the new contact will be placed in a new tab labeled "Overages." Contacts in Overages will not receive automated emails.
RealScout won’t stop alerts for existing nurtured contacts, but it will pause new alerts for additional contacts until you free up space or add NCPs.
We recommend that you add NCPs proactively to avoid missing opportunities with new leads.
How to resolve overages?
- Upgrade your plan to increase your account's Nurtured Contact Packs.
- Archive or Delete existing contacts in the Nurtured tab (if you identify they are done being nurtured).
- Automate Actions by using RealScout Tags - By using the RealScout Archive Contact tag, the "clean up" action can be done in mass.
The image below shows what a contact's profile will look like during the Overage stage.

Can I delete a contact completely if I no longer want them in my account?
Yes. You can permanently delete a contact anytime, though archiving is safer if you might work with them again later.
I’m part of a brokerage — does my brokerage pay for NCPs?
It depends on what your brokerage covers. Most brokerages cover their agents’ RealScout subscription, but agents purchase NCPs directly if they want to nurture more contacts than their included limit.
Can I cancel NCPs anytime?
Yes, you can adjust your NCP quantity at any time. If you reduce your NCPs below your current usage, you’ll need to archive contacts to stay within your new limit. Any nurtured contacts above that limit will move to your overage tab and be paused from nurturing. We recommend managing this carefully to keep your most valuable prospects active.
